Built to Last. Properly Cared For.
Every Thousand Mile garment is designed to provide years of dependable comfort and performance. Proper care helps preserve the fabric, fit, and character of your clothing so you can continue reaching for it season after season.
The care recommendations below will help you get the most from your Thousand Mile garments.
Campcloth™ Cotton
Our signature Campcloth™ is garment dyed and brushed for exceptional softness from the very first wear.
For best results:
- Machine wash cold.
- Tumble dry low.
- Do not bleach.
- Wash with similar colors.
- Remove promptly from the dryer.
Like all premium garment-dyed cotton, slight color variation and gradual fading are natural characteristics that give each garment its unique appearance over time.
Cotton Jersey Tees
Our garment-dyed cotton tees are designed to become softer with every wash.
To extend their life:
- Machine wash cold.
- Tumble dry low.
- Wash inside out when possible.
- Do not bleach.
Swimwear
Our nylon swim trunks are built for both land and water.
To maximize their lifespan:
- Rinse thoroughly after swimming in salt water or chlorinated pools.
- Machine wash cold.
- Hang dry whenever possible.
- Avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight while drying.
- Do not bleach.
Rinsing after swimming helps remove chlorine, salt, sunscreen, and other residues that can shorten the life of performance fabrics.
Fleece & Sweatshirts
For fleece pullovers and sweatshirts:
- Machine wash cold.
- Tumble dry low.
- Wash with similar colors.
- Do not bleach.
Avoid excessive heat, which can shorten the life of cotton fibers and affect garment size.
Garment-Dyed Fabrics
Many Thousand Mile garments are garment dyed to achieve their rich color and broken-in feel.
Because of this process:
- Slight color variation from garment to garment is normal.
- Colors will naturally soften over time.
- Washing with similar colors is recommended, especially during the first few washes.
These characteristics are part of what makes every garment unique.
Storage
To help preserve your garments:
- Store clean garments in a cool, dry location.
- Avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight when storing.
- Ensure garments are completely dry before folding or hanging.
A Few Simple Habits
Following these simple care practices can significantly extend the life of your clothing:
✓ Wash in cold water
✓ Use low heat when drying
✓ Avoid bleach
✓ Rinse swimwear after use
